Pioneers in Animal Assisted Therapies

Introduced Animal Assisted Therapies (AAT) in Spain and after much work and great effort, we have managed to demonstrate the improvement of physical, cognitive, emotional and relational aspects of the human being. When we started this process, there were still doubts about the effectiveness of introducing animals in therapies, but currently, thanks to the scientific monitoring and measurement of the results, we have managed to demonstrate the benefits it has on very diverse groups. Now we can say that we have managed to help thousands of people who needed it.

Our main human capital is our own team of professionals and our De Cell Number main resource is the team of therapy dogs . Each intervention is directed by a professional in Animal Assisted Therapies and the objectives of each of our programs are set according to the needs of the different groups. In recent years, for example, we have provided therapies to people with mental health disorders, functional diversity and at risk of exclusion; also to warded minors, people in penitentiary centers and the elderly.

Among some of our featured programs is Buddies , this program is aimed at warded minors. Young people learn to educate dogs in a positive way, that is, based on the well-being of the animal and its instructor. As the days go by, a great bond is generated between the child and the dog, which results in the improvement of emotional and behavioral aspects. You can see, for example, the story of Raúl and Bau .

Another of our pioneering programs, in operation since 1993, is aimed at inmates in penitentiary centers . In this program, inmates are charged with caring for the dogs on a daily basis, which helps them grow in confidence, self-esteem, and responsibility. In a second program, therapy professionals carry out interaction activities between inmates and dogs, with the aim of working on emotional aspects and social skills.

In scenarios where the presence of pets is not common, we have also been pioneers with our judicial dog program . This program is aimed at women victims of gender violence or crimes against their sexual freedom. The company of the dog in the moments prior to your court hearing results in a decrease in anxiety and stress levels.

Currently there are many organizations in Spain that use different types of Animal Assisted Interventions, confidence in this area has grown and it has been demonstrated, with the results obtained during these years, how the bond between animals and humans can heal.
